Exhibition Opening

'We've Got Balls' opened last Wednesday the 29th November at the Mundaring District Museum.

Those who attended were Donors of items for the exhibition, local Councillors, the Mundaring Shire's CEO Jason Whiteaker, and others.

Local identity, Mary Ball, gave an account of her 50 years involved with sport in the Mundaring Shire.

She recounted the times when the playing fields were either quagmires or sand pits and how she and others continually lobbied the Shire for better facilities. She remembered busy bees where locals pooled their resources together to spread sand and turf to ensure the playing fields were safe to play on and not full of potholes. An uneven surface could cause serious injury to players. It is a very typical Hills attitude of 'let's just get it done', and without this mindset, Hills sport would not have progressed as much as it did.
